"Getting married later in life but still wanting to have a family, I suspected that I may end up needing some assistance with fertility.  After only a few months of trying I sought help and started on the journey of fertility testing and treatments.  All of it was new and kind of exciting.  It never crossed my mind that it wouldn’t work.
After 5 treatment cycles along with embryo testing, it became clear to us that the chances of becoming pregnant at all, much less carrying a healthy baby to term, was going to be nearly impossible.  The numbers were not in our favor.  While there was still a single digit chance though, we had a difficult choice to make; continue doing IVF cycles with my own eggs, most likely unsuccessfully, or look for other options.  It was a hard to decision to make, but once I started reaching out and talking to people the answer became very clear; I needed an egg donor.

After research and many phone calls I was fortunate enough to make a connection with an amazing woman, Stephanie Levich.  We spoke at length on multiple occasions about finding a woman who could be an egg donor for us.  We discussed the process and the possibilities.  We spent time talking about what my husband and I needed in an egg donor.  Explaining what things were important and what things didn’t matter as much. Stephanie is as smart as she is compassionate and as professional as she is kind and I knew we found the right person to help us through this next part of our journey. With certain variables in mind, we chose an egg donor.  We started the process but things didn’t work out with our donor.  She had never been a donor before and was medically unable to be a donor for anyone.  This was extremely upsetting, but Stephanie was right there for us.  We regrouped, refocused and found a new donor.  Things went smoothly with our donor this time.  But to be clear, it is very emotional.  Every blood test, every exam, every contract signing is hard. The only way to get through it is to have a great team with you.  For me that was my husband, my doctor and Stephanie. 

I don’t feel that it is an exaggeration to say that Stephanie single handedly changed the trajectory of our lives.  Yes, our doctor was extremely instrumental and I credit him with making me a mother.  But without Stephanie, I would not have the amazing child that is my daughter. We will forever be grateful to have found and worked with Stephanie and she will always hold a special place in our family."
